Born and raised in Arizona, I draw inspiration from the stark modernity of the desert, and occasionally dream I'm a cactus. I currently own branding & print studio, Groom Creative, and maintain a board role in AIGA Arizona as the Design for Good Director. My specialties include branding, advertising, print design, publication design, and art direction.
I branded and helped launch the newest museum in Arizona, Western Spirit: Scottsdale’s Museum of the West, and my clients include non-profits, arts organizations, wellness companies, law firms, and restaurants. My past job titles include Marketing & Design Manager for the Heard Museum, and AIGA Arizona’s 2016-2017 In-House Design Director. My work has promoted exhibits and cultural events to all ages, from young children to refined art collectors.
I'm also a trained singer, so you can get a jingle included with your branding package if that’s your thing.

“I had the pleasure of working with Marissa on countless projects and recommend her and Groom Creative without reservation. Marissa has an amazing eye for design and undeniable talent. On many occasions, I poorly articulated a fuzzy vision or simply told her a goal without any concrete ideas on how to achieve it and she would somehow produce the most perfect campaign. Marissa creates magic out of thin air. When I did have a clear picture of what I wanted, Marissa would bring it to life in a way I may not have thought was possible. Her communication skills make her the perfect designer to work with and I always enjoy collaborating with her on projects. Because Marissa is also a skilled marketer, she is able to apply that knowledge in a way that offers a unique and important perspective. Her understanding of branding and consumer behavior is unparalleled as is her ability to leverage her marketing know-how in strategic campaigns. She is talented at marrying well-thought-out plans with striking designs. Her organization, timeliness, and attention to detail provide a sense of security that deadlines are met and that quality is always present. Groom Creative’s portfolio of work speaks for itself, but one should note that the owner Marissa, is as wonderful to work with as the superlative work she produces. Don’t pass up an opportunity to work with Groom Creative.”
“I have worked with Marissa for over a year in designing our logo and brochures and other marketing material and she has been wonderful to work with. Her work is creative and has helped us to create innovative ways to showcase our business. I would recommend Marissa for any projects you may have. She is well versed in all programs to make your marketing projects a success.”
“Marissa Groom played a valuable role in developing the museum’s brand identity, and has consistently implemented it with creativity and professionalism. Projects have included ads, brochures, event invitations (printed and evites), stationery, tabletop signage and flyers. She is an effective communicator—we never have to guess about the status or direction of a project—who consistently meets her deadlines. Her positive attitude and strong work ethic make her a pleasure to do business with.”
